Troop,

As you prepare for your summer, please remember that your own Goshen Scout Camp is offering “provisional” camp weeks. This can compliment your plans for a second week at a Boy Scout or Venturing camp or if you cannot make Camp Rodney trip. Provisional camps are for boys who cannot attend with their troop. On site leadership is provided by the Council. Leaders who wish to attend and agree to help provide leadership in site and assist in instructing may attend free. Scouts attend provisionally and are assigned to campsites under the leadership of our camp staff and other adults.

All Adult leaders in the Troop need to be trained. Many of the initial training courses are available on line at www.myscouting.org.

The Troop is participating in a combined Troop event with Troop 1576 at Riverbend Middle School in Sterling. River Bend is located at 46240 Algonkian Parkway in Sterling. Plan on arriving by 2 p.m. Please sign up on the website if you plan to attend. Please note that if you are going to summer camp at Camp Rodney, you should plan to attend the swim test and not this event. Mr. Hayes is the adult in charge and you may contact him with questions at thayes@nvrinc.com.

Troop 961,

Please tune in tonight to your local Loudoun Government Channel or live on the web (see below). The Goose Creek District BSA program will be receiving the coveted “2010 Volunteer Club of the Year” award at 5:50pm; to be presented by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. Just in Loudoun, our Scouting program provided more than 20,000 hours last year in community service.
